EarthDesk is the ultimate world map and timepiece for your iPhone or iPad.

Weve merged the beauty of EarthDesk and the utility of Time Palette into a single app. Experience EarthDesks gorgeous maps and near real-time clouds combined with Time Palettes world clocks and detailed almanac.

World Map:
EarthDesk displays a current world map with real-time day and night lighting conditions. With an internet connection, the map also shows global cloud coverage, updated every three hours. Maps can be displayed in any of four different graphic styles, showing vegetation, terrain or political boundaries.

World Clocks:
Multiple, configureable world clocks display the current local time in nearly 10,000 cities. The city database contains detailed time information for each city including Daylight Saving Time (Summer Time) start and end dates to provide accurate time through the year.

Almanac
EarthDesk includes a detailed almanac to calculate the hours of daylight plus times and locations of sunrise/set and moonrise/set for any date in nearly 10,000 cities. Additionally, the relative positions of the sun and moon, as well as phase and orientation of the moon can be shown over the course of each day for any of these locations.

EarthDesk supports both iPhone and iPad as well as Retina displays.

Disappointing
The almanac is nice, but there is only one view, unlike the real EarthDesk. Honestly, Im disappointed.
Gorgeous world map
This is a gorgeous version of the EarthDesk background I have running on my Mac. It features six clocks at the bottom of the screen, each of which can be set to a city of your choice. It shows the positions of the sun and moon, and it shows the day and night portions of the earth with a very clearly marked terminator. It also shows the current cloud cover. You can select one of four color schemes. Highly recommended.
Very nice!
Looks just like the EarthDesk Ive been running for years on my laptops. It would be nice if the clocks could be hidden (like maybe swipe up and down from the EarthDesk/Almanac toolbar at the bottom of the display, and if there was a "Now" or "Current" time button associated with the slider control in the almanac. Its kinda hard to set the time to now with the slider.
Marvelous but different
I checked this out on both my iPhone and my iPad. Combining earth cloud data with world clocks and local sunrise/set times is most handy. It puts in one app, what others have in two or three. I can see that tropical storm and potential hurricane hovering off the coast of Africa. The iPhone and iPad versions differed a bit more that Id expected. Its on iPads, that this app really shines. The map/world clock combination looks great and the almanac has more data about the sun and moon than I could find on the iPhone version. This should be a great app for astronomers and goes well with apps such as Star Walk. Tap on icons and youll discover other features. For instance, you arent stuck with just todays sun and moon data. You can set it to display almanac data for other locations and dates.
Nice
Nice, but it would be nice to have the option to turn the clocks off.
